How to Read a Balm Dependency Error
Turn a loader dependency message into a clear installation checklist. Learn more about Balm Mod.
Identify the requesting mod
Read the complete message before downloading another file. Note which mod requests Balm, the version or range it requests and any loader or game-version information shown. A dependency error describes an unmet requirement; it does not automatically mean the latest library release belongs in the instance. Save the message so you can compare the next launch against it.
Compare the active setup
Check the actual instance launched, not just a folder with a familiar name. Compare its Minecraft version and loader with the selected Balm file. Then compare the installed release against the requested dependency range. If several mods request different ranges, you need a combination that satisfies all of them; changing one file repeatedly without reviewing the other requirements will not resolve incompatible choices.
Make one correction
Close the game, preserve the previous file outside the live mods folder and add the compatible replacement. Launch the same profile again. If the message changes, read the new requirement instead of repeating the old fix. If no suitable release exists for the selected combination, reconsider the dependent mod version or restore your working pack.
