Balm Mod

How to Find Your Active Minecraft Mods Folder

Make sure your Balm JAR is installed in the instance you actually launch. Learn more about Balm Mod.

Start from the launcher

Select the exact profile you intend to play, then use its instance or game-directory control when available. Different launchers and profiles can use separate directories on one computer. A general Minecraft directory found through a search may belong to a different setup. Write down the profile name and inspect its existing files before copying anything.

Confirm the folder belongs to the profile

Check whether the directory contains the configuration and mod files expected for that instance. Launch the selected profile and compare the location of its recent log with the folder you inspected. Avoid guessing a destination solely because a mods folder already exists. If a managed pack provides installation controls, follow that workflow rather than maintaining an unrelated directory manually.

Install and verify

Close the game, place only the intended compatible mod JAR in the confirmed mods folder and relaunch the same profile. Keep backups and alternative downloads outside that folder. A dependency message after installation should prompt you to recheck the selected profile, file compatibility and required version, rather than copying Balm into every directory on the computer.
